Techniques for FIT
————————————————————

  • With all of the disasters in the news, check your preparations for life’s “tails.” If the predictability of your life’s events are plotted on a bell curve, spend a little time thinking about how you’ll handle exceptionally bad or exceptionally good events.
  • Write stuff down. Research shows that the act of putting pencil to paper works magic in our brains.
  • Schedule time next week for silence. 20 minutes to start.
  • Set up your own trigger warnings. My latest is scotch tasting.

Being Human – Human powered

You are the product

This is a fun opinion piece on Facebook and how we, as it’s users, have become the product.

You Are the Product

It reminds me of the Matrix where humans are used as batteries.

One part that jumped out is footnote #2 where he paraphrases Everybody Lies, “researchers have studied the difference between the language used on Google, where people tend to tell the truth because they are anonymously looking for answers, and the language used on Facebook, where people are projecting an image.”

For those of us engaged in lead generation activities, we see the same thing. Searches typed into the search engines are incredibly open and honest.

What happens to those thoughts the user thinks is anonymous but goes into the dossier attached to MAC address 32:11:62:98:42:00? Will it ever be turned against them?

I feel a work of fiction coming on.

Now he’s gone

Three weeks after he arrived, our exchange student is gone.

I have been told it’s not because of my angry rants, he just didn’t want to go to high school in the USA.

Maybe I should get another dog.
