“No business plan survives first contact with a customer."
- Steve Blank

Another quote that comes to mind is Mike Tyson's "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face." These sayings are in my brain because there is no better learning mechanism than getting out of the room you're in and testing a hypothesis. Taking a new product, for instance, and putting it in front of real live customers.
Trying new things is on my mind because I have a new event coming up in September. It's a combination of two of my favorite things: talking about biz dev and UFB.
Talking about Business Development
Take a day and half out of the office and take a deep dive into discovering your best way of finding new business. You'll leave Getting New Clients 2019 with pages and pages of ideas you can apply the minute you get back to your office. You'll sharpen your skills as you dive into discovering new language, diagnostics, and ways to create larger projects with longer term relationships. I don't have a lot of talents, but one thing I've always been good at is helping people grow their business. This workshop will be 25% lecture style, 60% interacting with the group, and 15% re-examination. You'll learn by doing.
UFB
In case you didn't know this already, my brother-in-law owns Hinterland Brewery, directly across the street from Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI. I've taken friends up to Packer games for years and now that UFB has a giant restaurant only a stones throw away from one of pro sports most iconic stadiums, I'm dying to share the experience. By timing a business development workshop to coincide with a Thursday Night NFL game in Green Bay, I get two of my favorite things in one week.
The workshop will be amazing, but coupled with the Packer game, it's a can't miss training event. I have all the details nailed down, I'm starting the promotions next week, and you're invited.
Send me a note if you want to know more.
