“You’ll get knocked down over and over and over again, and you get back up." — Elizabeth Holmes,

I finally got around to watching the HBO documentary on Theranos, the health technology company gone bad. Like most documentaries, it runs a little long but it's a thought provoking commentary on "fake it 'til you make it." At what point does the thing you're pretending come true? And what happens if it doesn't?
All projections about the future are guesses. The past is easier to interpret and winners write the history books. That said, we need to hone our ability to look for both sides of an argument because it's intellectually honest. A little alarm needs to go off if we agree with everything we see, hear, and feel, and especially if the opposite happens.
I go back to my visit to China where it seemed every story we were told involved duality, the pull between the Yin and the Yang. Two opposite forces that are complimentary and create movement. Life is a battle between our expectations and reality and that's just how it is. Next week, be on the lookout for those things you believe to be true and those things you vehemently disagree with. Pause and consider the opposite because as the protagonist in Siddhartha says, "in every truth the opposite is equally true."
Good stuff.
